Hi, I'm not sure if I am sending this message correctly but here goes. I started collecting McCoy 1 1/2 years ago when I bought my first McCoy book while vacationing in Adamstown, Pa. I collect mostly animal planters but, since I work for a Wine Company, I also collect grape vases for my office. We went to Adamstown yesterday because it was the last day Schupps Outdoor Flea Market was open. (They close for the winter and reopen in April) Wow, did I get good buys! I bought two Dom mugs for $1 each, a Brush Fleur de Lis planter for $1, a small McCoy yellow duck for $1. The Blue Willow Pitcher Cookie Jar for $32 (a Christmas gift for a friend). Just as I was leaving, I spotted a Turkey platter in the original box for $20. At Renningers I bought the Brush Squirel on a log and Raccoon on a log for $25 each. My boyfriend surprized me with an early Birthday Gift, he bought me the Bird Dog Planter! What I'm still looking for is: 8 square Sandstone plates and the Real McCoy books by Pamela Coates. If anyone can help, e-mail me at: jackie@monarchwine.com. I love the McCoy site! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From lpeedin@mindspring.com Mon, 2 Nov 1998 20:06:51 -0500 (EST) Date: Mon, 2 Nov 1998 20:06:51 -0500 (EST) From: Lee Peedin lpeedin@mindspring.com Subject: Re[2]: Since you asked Bob, Would love for you to come out and help me with some of this fishing. Probably gave to much for it ($17), but since it was unlike anything I had, of course I was determine to be high bidder. Does anyone know of other pieces in this series? I'd truly love to get away for a trip like that! Spots sound alittle like Blue Gills, although of course, Blue Gills are a fresh water fish. A similar description. I've always thought I'd enjoy living close enough to the ocean to fish at any time or whim. I think one of the things that holds me back is my fear of hurricanes but I suppose it's the same threat we live with here in the mid-west with tornadoes. Although tornadoes don't wipe out half of a state. We visited Charlotte a few years ago. I think I could move to that area VERY easily. About where are you located, again? How do you know it is new? I saw a set of 4 canisters this weekend, perfect condition and they only wanted $60.00. All were in mint condition and none of the bottoms had McCoy markings except for one - the second smallest. They were marked properly with the Washington, DC statement and author unknown. I did not buy them because I felt something was wrong. The price seemed too low and it was an antique shop, not a flea market or yard sale. Is there a way to tell when the Spirit of 76 items are new or old? And in this same light - I am still looking for a lid for the Spirit of 76 Cookie Jar. Keep looking and if you see one - up to $l0 or $l2 - just let me know or better yet, purchase it and I will reimburse you immediately. Must be in mint condition, however. Thanks for your help. My wife started about 10 or 15 years ago and anymore I watch for it alot more than she does. One of the first pieces I stumbled home with years ago is the vase shown on pg. 219 of the H.N.H. book top right, it wasn't until years later I new what it was. Most recently came home from a very wet, very cold, outdoor fall auction with a few nice pieces, pg. 213 bottom "Centerpiece" in mother of pearl (haven't ever seen that one before) and pg. 55 top in the darker green, among others. Lousy weather sometimes makes for a good hunting day. My sister (and main auction partner) thought I was nuts until I showed up with the loot. I couldn't bring myself to sell this stuff so I'm going to just add on...The plans are drawn. I didn't get to go anywhere this weekend....had to work! My husband goes to estate sales, auctions, and various 'antique' shops..... he picked up 7 cookie jars to add to his collection! If you do, I would very much be appreciative if >I could get the page sent to me as an attachment in email, fax, or in >the mail. Typically at the time of shipping you buy insurance based on how much the sender puts down as the value of the merchandise being shipped. If it was insured for $300.00 then $300.00 would be what you would get. If it was insured for $10.00 but was worth $300.00, then you would get the insured amount of $10.00. (I'm not saying this item is worth $300, this is just for the sake of example.) The best course of action is to contact the carrier and find out what the insured amount was,(or look at the shipping label) as this is what you should be getting as compensation. There need not be any burden of proof on the value/s since you pay for the insurance based on the amount specified. ie $10.00 worth of insurance does not cost as much as $300.00 worth. The main reason I say all this, is that it is hard to assess a price on these types of things. What "worth" really comes done to is not how much any expert/dealer/book says, but how much someone is willing to pay for it. Therefore, you should be entitled to no more than what you paid for it, assuming that the insurance at the time of shipping was metered accordingly with the price valued on the object by the sender or as specified. hope this helps Regards, The List Mom _______________________________________________________________________ McCoy Pottery Online http://www.mccoypottery.com e-mail: listmom@mccoypottery.com List Server: http://www.mccoypottery.com/mailinglists Linking McCoy Lovers World Wide __________________________________________________________________________ McCoy Pottery Online T-Shirts available for only $15.95 + shipping Visit the new Cookie Jar Store: www.cookiejarstore.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From SlplsinMi@aol.com Tue, 17 Nov 1998 14:52:08 EST Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 14:52:08 EST From: SlplsinMi@aol.com SlplsinMi@aol.com Subject: Cow With a Cat on it's Back I'm having the same difficulty as Mark. In lieu of an actual receipt for the item they will accept an appraisal slip from any type of professional dealer so that part should be easy. You keep getting mail to be taken off the list from a select few people who have difficulty functioning i.e. reading, and calmly trying to understand and embrace the technology that is the Internet. While in theory you should not be getting this type of mail, meaning that no one should be posting unsubscribe requests to a mailing list, however the sad fact is, that when one person posts something to a mailing list, everyone on the list gets a copy of the post. This is what a Mailing List is. Nothing is wrong. Do you still want off the list?
