Someone was inquiring about the X Y and Z marks usually on the bottom of the
cookie jars.
The McCoy Cookie Jar book gives this explanation.
THERE ARE A NUMBER OF MCcOY COOKIE JARS THJAT HAVE ONLY A PLAIN BOTTOM-NO
MARK. HOWEVER THEY IN REALITY DO HAVE A MARK OF IDENTIFICATION. THEY ARE
REFERED TO AS A 'X' 'Y' AND 'Z.'
'X' BOTTOM-HAS THREE CREAM COLORED BARS ACROSS THE BOTTOM. CREAM-COLORED
AREAS ARE WHAT TO LOOK FOR.
'Y' BOTTOM-HAS TWO BARS ACROSS THE BOTTOM. BARS SIMILAR TO THE ONES AT EACH
END ARE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.
'Z' BOTTOM-ONLY A SEAM IN THE MOLD SHOWS. THE SEAM MAY BE A STRAIGHT LINE OR
THREE LINES MEETING.
Hope this helps all some.
