Been a while since I joined in, been reading all messages, just didn't have anything to say. First let me tell you about my latest finds. I have several stoneware frogs, one that's in "The Guide To Brush-McCoy Pottery" by Martha & Steve Sanford. At last Sat.'s auction I found a frog marked McCoy that is, via appearance, quit old. This guy is over 6" long and about 3.5" high. Can't find him in any of my books, though. BTW, don't know if the above mentioned book is still in print, but it's an execellant reference for identifing unmarked pieces. Also, at last Sat.'s auction found the Scotty Dog Planter (5 dogs on front). Got a minor chip on the back of one ear, but displays well. Now I need some help. In "The Collectors Encyclopedia of McCoy Pottery" by Sharon & Bob Huxford (the black book) on Page 159, top row, left, is Humpty Dumpty; however, the book simply says 'Not McCoy'. Does anyone know who made this. I found a yellow one several months ago. One more thing, our company is currently in the process of installing internet servers, routers, etc. in order to become a full ISP. That means I get free space for a web site 'as large as I want'. My plans are to build a site to display all our pottery. Most of what I have is McCoy, but also have some RedWing, Brush, Watt, Haeger, Hull, Royal Copley, etc. plus a quit large selection of unidentified pieces. My plans are to seperate by company and also have a section for the unidentified. Will let everyone know when it is ready. It's a beautiful, blue sky kind of day in Kentucky though we would be glad to see rain and clouds after the driest summer you could imagine. Our famous Bluegrass is now brown! I'm putting my grape vases back on the chat line because MRBIG never sent me his address, so guess he's not interested in them anymore. They are as described: yellow with brown, lovely matching vases, one has a 1/2" chip along the top edge and 4 tiny chips also along the top edge inside; the other has a small chip along the top edge and a about 1" chip with a tight hairline about 2" long on the inside. The tops of these vases are very uneven so the chips don't really show, except for the largest chip and it doesn't scream "CHIP!" at you. Both pieces are signed with clear " McCoy" marks. They are shown on page 163 of the HNH book and pages 180 &181 of the Huxford book. Both books list their value as $45 to $60 each but I will sell them both to anyone on this list for $50. I don't have much money in them, I don't collect the vases and I'm trying to be reasonable. Everyone likes a bargain. I know I do! They are packaged and ready to mail, so let me know if you are interested. I would also be willing to trade for an equal value in McCoy animal figurines or shoes, which I do collect. Floyd hit pretty hard last night. Not at much wind as Fran but a LOT more rain. Some 400,000 people lost their electricity. We lost ours at 3:30 AM, but had it back by 10:00 AM. Much better than the 8 days we were without power after Fran. Lots & lots of flooding. The only 'personal' thing we know of so far was a tree that fell on Brenda' Grandparents grave, knocking the headstone down. Doesn't appear to be broken; however. Have heard of 4 casualities so far - all from traffic accidents. Since we have our power back, I'm planning on loading my generator tommorrow and assist some folks with keeping their food freezers cold. We lost all our frozen food after Fran and plan to do what I can to prevent this from happening to others. One note on McCoy - the frog I was describing! Boy do I feel stupid about saying I couldn't find it in the books. It's on the cover of 'The Collectors Encylopedia of McCoy Pottery' - Sharon & Bob Huxford. Guess I had Floyd on the brain. We haven't had them for awhile. When the chats first started, there was really no other way for people to communicate online. There were no McCoy pottery email loops......now there are two! There were no McCoy message boards....now there are MANY. There was now EBAY (which probably is the biggest culprit). These other methods of McCoy communicating took away the excitement of the chats for the time being. However, I for one miss the old times. The chat room is always there, so lets start the chats up again. How about tonight! It's TUESDAY! The time for the chat is 9:30 pm Eastern. Unfortunately, only AOL members can get to the chat at this time. There was an internet chat out there that some people where having a hard time getting to. If the interest in the chat continues, we can work on that again. At any rate, if you would like to join the chat tonight, and have AOL access, follow these directions: 1) Go to: http://ohiopottery.com/mccoy 2) Click on "Chat on AOL" in the yellow box on the left side under the topic of collectors. 3) Click "Enter here" and....Presto! Your there! Hope to see many of you! The chat tonight is at 9:30 EST on AOL. Go to: http://ohiopottery.com/mccoy click on the "chat on aol" link in the yellow box to the left.
