I tried to forward that email to the administrator and I was the one who ended up unsubscribed and I had just gotten into the mail list yesterday for the first time. So spentt day getting that straightened out and hopefully, this email will go thru. My black and white bear doesn't have a heart on the feet. The feet and front paws and nose are black and some black lines on the eyes to accent them. Will try to go by Barnes & Noble tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. I have two more bear cookie jars as well. One is marked Gilner G-405 and is sitting down with feet up and paws on tummy. The other is all white, but I remember cleaning off what little paint was on it when I got it as the paint was mostly gone. This one, I think is out in the shed, so will have to find it and see if it has any marks. I got these as a bear collector of sorts in years past. Thanks again for your help. I'll check. Here in Ohio Roseville is very high-priced. It is considered to be a hgher quality of pottery, but I like McCoy better because of the variety. Hull matte glaze pieces are also high in price. Rookwood is THE quality Ohio-made pottery. Weller is something of a sleeper right now, but I like some of that better than Roseville. When we first got interested in McCoy in the 1970's, it was very inexpensive. The first time we paid $10.00 for a piece, that was a lot. To this date, the most we have paid for anything is $50.00, except for the cat on coalbucket cookie jar. We are not cookie jar collectors, but we like cats. I'm new to collecting McCoy also, but from what I have read, McCoy is one of the biggest pottery makers and made thousands a yearm, shipping them all over the country. The factory was in Ohio, but as you said, it is readily available in Texas. It would seem to me that, since it's readily available, prices remain low. I, too, like it better than Hull or some of the others. As it gets scarcer or more people become interested, prices will rise. I have noticed that some of the pieces in better condition are going for more on e-bay than prices listed in some of the books. Could be a trend for prices to go up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From revaughn@webtv.net Mon, 10 Jan 2000 14:17:11 -0500 (EST) Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2000 14:17:11 -0500 (EST) From: ELIZABETH VAUGHN revaughn@webtv.net Subject: ???
