I really started as a cookie jar collector and then found several other things that I liked as decorator pieces. I have the 3 vol. cookie jar collector books also. Recently on ebay there was a pear cookie jar which said in the description(no photo of mark) that it was marked overlapping NM and USA. The picture matched a California Pottery CJ. It had 2 large leaves on the top. Could this be McCoy? I have several other questions but I don't want to be a pest so I'll quit for now. We tracked it down to a failing hard drive. Anyway, we have stepped up our upgrading of the McCoyPottery Online site, and will have the new list server up an running shortly. We will re-subscribe everyone to the new list server, and there will be a brief set of instructions about its operation as the address will change to McCoyPottery-Talk@lists.mccoypottery.com We will let you know when this is done, but for the most part it will be a seamless change. take care. I understand there is going to be an even better site this summer. I'm really looking forward to it. I've also just started collecting and have a few things - ie., I have 4 placesettings of dinnerware... some of them are marked mccoy while other pieces are simply marked USA. This set has two brown stripes - dark chocolate brown and tan on an oatmeal (?) background. Were any McCoy ever just marked "USA"? The first one I had was by Huxford. Since then, there have been 2 by the Hansens and Nisson, one by Sanford, and one by Snyder. There were also some paper-back books by Pamela Coates, but they are long out of print and very scarce. Prices would not be relevant today anyway. I like to look at more than one book myself because no book can have everything, and the prices only serve as a general guideline. Have fun. We started in the 70's so are kind of at the end of our collecting--mostly sell now. I can't remember how the names are spelled. Always use HNH) and a Brush-McCoy book. The Brush-McCoy, I got on ebay from a lady who subscribes to this line, Elizabeth. We live in a small town and the bookstore had to order what I wanted. There is another book I want but I don't know the name just that it is Red and has lots of the dish sets in it. Check out ebay under McCoy Pottery. (You don't have to buy, but can get ideas on pricing, etc.) I have seen some of your dishes there. BTW, I like that set. Very pretty. My understanding of USA mark is limited but I think that some McCoy was marked just USA. I am still learning, too but my books, the people on this line and just looking has helped me alot. Am going McHunting tomorrow. Hope to find the DEAL!!! But remember that just because the seller says it's a McCoy doesn't always mean it's a McCoy. Welcome to our chatline!
