Elizabeth, I think there are pieces some of us will never part with.  My Dad 
who is not at all a pottery or antique person gave me a teaset and the 
cookstove cookie jar as gifts years ago. We had mutual friends who were 
dealers and they  sold to him.  I also was given my step=grandmothers cookie 
jar, the black kookie kettle.  Those will be here forever!! I think what fun 
it must be to start collecting today...Despite the high prices, it would be 
fun to find those bargains and the new things. Books today are so much more 
complete than when I started collecting You know more what you're looking for 
today.Chiquita
