Hi Erma, the sphinx jar is listed in the 1998 edition of McCoy Pottery 
Collectors Reference & Value Guide, vol. 1 (authors are Hanson and Nissen) on 
p. 41--value is given as $500-650.  I've seen one or two on eBay, and they go 
high--it's a rare piece.  If you have one, congratulations!  Lillian
