Also, you can search under "pottery/glass/dinnerware" by typing in "McCoy" and anything McCoy listed there will show up. Additionally, you can sign up for ebays "watch list" and they will automatically notify you when new McCoy Dinner ware items are listed. I think, but I am not sure, you go to the services page to do this. Also, you can contact ebay customer support by email, or call them at this toll free # to learn how to do it: 1-888-749-3229, and for a pay call, (408) 558-7400. Wish I could tell you exactly how to do it, but it has been so long for me that I forgot. It really is a neat way to "search" for stuff though! Save alot of time wasted "looking". Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Nielsen" To: Sent: Friday, March 01, 2002 5:35 AM Subject: Re: [Mccoypottery-talk] Dinner plates > Actually, I don't know the name of the pattern. Nelson bettyfnelson@mchsi.com Subject: [Mccoypottery-talk] McCoy Bowl & Pitcher wash set Rene', I looked through all my books again last night and I did find a speckled pitcher & bowl. Certainly wasn't what I had been visualizing but that is what they called it. I found it in the NHN book Vol.III page 92. It was not in the index and I finally found it just turning page after page. I was stubborn because I thought I knew I had seen a speckled pitcher. I found numbers on 1973 catalog pages that were in the 75?? series. I think 7518 was the highest number that was used on that catalog page. It at least lets you more or less date it as 1973-74 This gives a value or $40.00-50.00. Hope it helps. They have a wonderful picture of this that they can send you on your own address. It is nothing like what I was looking for with the 'speckled' description. It is rather white on white. Very plain streamlined pitcher and bowl. Absolutely beautiful. They have sent me the picture and a rubbing of the McCoy mark and all looks like the Real McCoy except for one thing........ I found the number on the bottom of their piece # 7527. That is the correct number for the pitcher in the Strawberry set. It is on page 221 of the HNH III on the catalog page from the 1973 catalog the item "Z'" is their pitcher and bowl and the number is correct but the finish is totally different. Hope some of you that know more about the value of the strange pieces can help. I didn't even find a price guide for the strawberry set. Hope some one else can give more help. Right now I find a ceramic red apple, a burlap sack -- both of which are very similar to vintage jars. And a crock with "roses" on it. http://www.houseofwebster.com/ bc At 06:39 AM 3/26/02 -0500, you wrote: >this was a smaller version made by House of Webster.....they duplicated >several McCoy cookie jars. The question is: To restore or not to restore. That is the question. Whether it is better to leave the it alone or try to repaint the worn cold paint. My opinion is to leave it alone. As long as the new paint job is not represented to a buyer as "original" and you're doing it for your own pleasure... go ahead. If I were doing it, I'd try to keep colors as close to original as possible. I personally have not re-painted any of mine. Chiquita From barbc@thecookiejar.net Tue, 26 Mar 2002 15:02:46 -0600 Date: Tue, 26 Mar 2002 15:02:46 -0600 From: BarbCrews barbc@thecookiejar.net Subject: [Mccoypottery-talk] Restoring McCoy Pottery To me it depends on the jar, e.g. I have an old Gumball Machine cookie jar done in cold paint that is badly peeling. One day I will paint that one. The value of the jar is around $75. and I don't think it would affect the value much if any. and yes of course, if I sold it would say it was repainted. I also have a Coalby cat that is missing a bit of the trim. That one I would never touch up or repaint, it would affect the value on that one a lot more. But as of right now, none of the jars are repainted. It depends on what folks want them for, to display, use or for later sale. bc From listmom@mccoypottery.com Tue, 26 Mar 2002 15:10:38 -0600 Date: Tue, 26 Mar 2002 15:10:38 -0600 From: List Mom listmom@mccoypottery.com Subject: [Mccoypottery-talk] Restoring McCoy Pottery McQuita@aol.com said: >Terry, I think it's just a matter of personal opinion.
