I didn't know either- we bought two of these- the original Mammies are EXACTLY 11 inches tall, with a dry ring base, and have at least **some** wear because of the way they were "cold painted"-- hers are WAY too perfect.... I have learned so much about them in the past week it is unbelievable!!
 Go to www.members.aol.com/mccjs/repro.htm and check out how to tell the authentic from the fake. I went to www.ask.com -- it is my favorite search engine and typed in McCoy pottery fraud, etc. I got tons of great info from the links! I won't be duped again! This lady makes me sick to my stomach-- she cheated  me out of $295!!
