I too only use my bank card for paypal extra insurance  ,  Paypal  had
me verify my Identity  last log on and   also change my password  
strange  it said for   better security  I had to change my Password
and   when I did it went  right through  no problems . I guess I am  one
of the lucky few  who never had a problem with paypal. I have been with
them  since  they started  I was also with xcom .com the one   they
merged with. 
I am not  counting on it being problem  free now that ebay has it  
though  .
