I don't even know anything, but I'd say it's a fake. All you have to do is 
read between the lines ...
"new cookie jar--is marked "McCOY" on the bottom"
If it's new it's obviously not authentic, and McCoy is in quotation marks.
*Very* misleading, though. Unethical, I'd say.
