[Mccoypottery-talk] Fakes and our Stand against them

Tom,  
  You are right, we should be thankful for the ones that are "schooled" enough to make educated calls and provide us with their help in times like these where there are so many illushions (fakes).  However, we as McCoy collectors should also become "schooled" through the guidence of those individuals.  Namely McQuita,  THANK YOU!
  Anytime I talk to someone about McCoy (which is everytime someone comes in my den and sees our display of cookie jars) at work or play, I make a point to discuss the impostors that are trying to come across as McCoy collectors.
  I'm from Gulfport Mississippi, lived here all my life.  Honestly, I've only seen very very few, fakes at any of the sales down here.  But, those few are too many.  If there is going to be an awareness to this increasing problem, we, the true McCoy Collectors are the ones that have to accept that burden.  The best tool we have is by word of mouth.
  I'm not the type to draw attention to myself, but, I have been known to tell someone at a sale, with others around, that their item is a repo and not the true McCoy, as they are stating.  This is the strongest road block that we can put up if the opportuntity presents itself.  But, and this is very important, before any of us can do this, we "must" be knowledgable enough to take that stand.  On this particuliar cookie jar, I was, was confident that I was,  and presented myself in that confident manner.  
  As implied here, I'm not knowledgable enough to do that on all McCoy items, that is the challenage to us all, become more knowlegable.  If for no other reason, to carry on the torch that McQuita and others have lit for us.

Just be thankfull for those on the list that gave us the info to not buy from them.
I feel sorry for those folks that are being taken not knowing what they are buying!!!!
