Basketball is Kentucky's national sport, ranking right up there with anything to do with Thoroughbreds or horses in general.. My office's basket collection is growing, though slowly. It is on Hwy 127, real close to the Lake Cumberland State Park. It is called "Jimmy's Antiques". It is on the right hand side of the road coming from your end. I think it would be about an hour and a half for you. He apparently bought out 2 estates and has goo-gobs of it. He, of course, knows what he has, so everything is priced to current values. But, he is very willing to negotiate and took some off of the items I bought. You may find the one item you have been searching for! He says he has alot of dealers set up around him during the 127 yard sale in August. I am definitely going to check that out. Happy Hunting! Hope --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? It is on Hwy 127, real close to the Lake Cumberland State Park. It is called "Jimmy's Antiques". It is on the right hand side of the road coming from your end. I think it would be about an hour and a half for you. He apparently bought out 2 estates and has goo-gobs of it. He, of course, knows what he has, so everything is priced to current values. But, he is very willing to negotiate and took some off of the items I bought. You may find the one item you have been searching for! He says he has alot of dealers set up around him during the 127 yard sale in August. I am definitely going to check that out. Happy Hunting! Hope Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! No, just kidding. We just joined the list and I read the feb. archives to try and catch up and see how the list is.... Well I gotta tell yas... I'm tickled pink! This is gonna be great being a part of this group or should I say McGroup.. OK.. I'll McStop..hehe We live In SW Michigan just off I-94 and they just opened a new antique mall right at the exit here in Coloma Mi. Called Great lakes Antiques. Sheryl and I have been "Hooked" for about 3 yrs now (thats how long we've been together also) We both love McCoy and other varius old potteries. But McCoy is number one. Sheryl has a Fenton Fetish that keeps me from buying McCoy on occasion. But shes a wonderful woman and I let her have anything she wants ... that we can afford i should say..lol I'm ot sure how many pcs of McCoy we have, but I'll try and report on that another time. My best and proudest McCoy find/buy but not neccasarily the most expensive. Is the little white Fawn flower bowl ornament. The one with the complete side view, nose up, standing on the triangular shaped "rock"? with NM marked on the rock.. I actually bought it from an antique/junk shop for $2.00, yes TWO dollars.. i was chokin and sweatin and trembling i think, and when she asked if i wanted it wrapped, i said naaw, thats ok, dont bother.. LOL I was too afraid she's notice the NM on it..LOL It wasnt priced and when I asked how much for the little deer.. she said .ohhh a couple dollars ok with you??... Yeaa, that sounds fair, it cute.. HeHe.. yes, i truly felt bad... But Ohh it looks nice alongside my other small white critter i have. OK folks.. I must force myself to shut up, or I'll get booted for being too long winded and I AM VERY LONG WINDED...LOL Thanks for being here everyone!!! (We've seen prices from $400-$1,000.) We plan to start the bidding at around $450 with no reserve. We are not greedy. We will take whatever it ends up selling for. It is in perfect condition except the inside of the lid has a minor chip where the rim sits on top of the jar. It is on the inside and never seen. Hi all, I was sooo excited to find this site. My husband and I are avid "Arts and Crafts" era collectors...and have recently tried to narrow in on one pottery company. We have both fallen in love with McCoy and for the most part have found that McCoy is a little more affordable then some of the others of the era..i.e Roseville, etc. We aren't looking to find really unusual pieces or anything....just "real" items with the Craftsmen look to them...(and from the era..we don't want anything newer than the early 30's) We did go antique shopping this last weekend and found a mission smoking stand....sitting in the stand was a cute little piece that we ultimately ended up getting virtually free as the dealer lowered the price on the stand and threw in the bowl. The bowl is a green onyx low bowl with 01 5 Made in the USA..on the back. The dealer said it was probably McCoy. I'm sure it's not worth a whole lot if he threw it in for free?? Can anyone here confirm that it is McCoy? What is the approx. age of this bowl? I know we need to get a book to get started, and will do that soon...but.... I'm kind of a skeptic....how can we get quality pieces that aren't "fakes". What are some common characteristics of a fake or a newer piece? Obviously , we are very new at this...so any help, links, etc....would be much appreciated. Thanks again...for letting me join this wonderful, elite , group. They were very crafty trying to make it look real with the ebay logo. Mine even had an item # as and "re". It was from something I had actually bought, too. Ebay was very quick to investigate and report back to me, though. I like it all - ebay, antique malls, and flea markets. I figure the more I see, the better I will be at picking out fakes, etc. Of course, the malls are higher priced, but I still manage to find some deals. Especially when the booth owner is having a sale. We stopped at a little junk shop the other day and discovered a really nice planter for 2 bucks! It was stuffed back in a corner with trivial junk. I don't think she knew what she had. My husband also found me a pitcher at a flea market for 2.00 and didn't even know it was a McCoy until I saw it!
