My one grandmother, if I reember, used to"work" a pair of pillow cases
on New Year's Day. It seems to be a tradition among many people we know
to eat pork and sauerkraut that day. With 5 kids, I am sure that I
sometimes did laundry on New Year's Day. They are all grown, and still
very much in our lives.
