We have had this happen.  Take it to your local auctioneer, have him put a
letter on his letterhead the dollar amount that is worth, they classify
auctioneers as subject matter experts.  Once they see the actual retail value
versus what you paid that is all they need, they then fax it to their
headquarters and a check magically appears.
