Perhaps someone switched lids. EVery now and then you come across a
cookie jar, tea pot, or casserole that the lid doesn't fit, and I would
guess that is what happens. Also, once I bought a McCoy cookie jar when
they were still in the stores, and the lid didn't fit quite right even
though it was new in the box.
