I once had a shop of my own and then worked in antique malls where we
had space for a long time.  It wouldn't have bothered me if someone
brought in a book, but the owners didn't like it.  Guess if we have
books with us, we go outside  to check.  I see lots of people bring
books to auctions with them, and that makes lots of sense to me.
