Jennifer, the folks from Zanesville have been amazed through the years with
the interest shown in their potteries. It was a way of making a living for
them, Including the McCoys. Nelson once said a favorite of his was the
Wishing Well Planter, they must have made Millions, he said. He saw
profit..not design or collectibility. The third auction is during Pottery
week. Joanne lived in a very nice tri-level home, much of her pottery was
downstairs lining the walls...shelves lined the walls. There were tables in
the center of the rooms filled with pottery and under the tables was pottery.
It truly was amazing and the highlight of my collecting career to see her
collection while she was still alive. The sandjars and jardineres and peds,
oil jars, etc, Loy Nel Art, etc. were upstairs in different areas of her
home. When I was there was when Craig Was taking photos for his third
book....Frank ,who specializes in Floraline, came , too, and we helped with
the photography...Joanne served us snacks and our lunch totally on McCoy
items and accessories. Truly, Truly an amazing collection that spanned many
years. Joanne lived and breathed McCoy, I learned much from her. Her's was
the ultimate collection as far as I was concerned...Keeping in mind that she
tried to not exceed reasonable prices when she bought things...She turned
items down when the prices were exhorbitant...purely because that took a lot
of the fun out of it for her..For anyone interested in the Pottery Week
events and the organized McCoy events, check the webpage at McCoy Pottery
Collectors Society web page......
