I  am eventually going t on get the sanfords too . Guides  have prices
according to what the item  would  fetch  at the time they were
published   so  prices change all the time  , its good to  have a
comparison  so you can  kind of  combine  several  prices and  maybe
get  a fair  one in  between . many people say  check ebay as a  price
guide but  I myself feel  that  since  its  either slow  or  prices too
high on some things  its overrated as  a way  to determine value .   Joe
shmo  could get umpteen bucks  for his whozit  and   someone  says hey I
have that and  tries to sell it  for the same   and can't ..  go figure
its  too fickle to get  values on ebay.
i like to go to shops  and shows  check prices and if I can  see  or
watch to see  how the sellers are doing usually the ones with the  least
costly  under book  prices do a lot better and the  others  go home and
come back the next time with the same stuff  or  try at the very end of
the day to  sell it  at  a lesser but still too high price.  i have
seen  pieces   of pottery   marked  or  unmarked  (priced)  when you ask
they want  almost double  book value.  too many think you  know nothing
and  say hey  its rare LOL.. i just  try and walk  away  before I  open
my mouth  cause  my  Hubby gets  embarrassed if I   give a history of an
item to a  dealer who thinks they have a  piece worth it weight in gold
cause someone told them it was > .
