My understanding is that one of Goodwill's functions is to provide jobs to
people who might have trouble functioning in the normal workplace.
Everytime I visit my usual Goodwill stores I've found several of the
employees to be very nice but low-functioning academically. I take a bundle
of newspapers with me (They can usually use more) and if I buy breakables, I
offer to wrap them myself. One trip I found a pristine Haeger planter, but
when I got home it had 4 chips because of the wrapping and boxing. I'll
wrap them myself from now on.
