Patti,
I will dig that book out and scan the picture of the land mine and send it
to you tomorrow.  I think you will agree that they did not get turned into
any covered casserole.  HOWEVER... the writing about the production of the
land mines does make it plain that the big perc to making the mines for the
government that was the extra clay. The quality clay was rationed  same as
most things were and once they had filled the orders they were allowed to go
ahead with the manufacturing of their regular kitchen ware so many of the
old old pieces could certainly claim that they were made from the same clay
as the land mines.  Betty the O. in I
