I think you will agree that they did not get turned into
any covered casserole.
Yep I agree I figured someone embellished the story maybe to
impress thinking we were just flea dealers and didn't know what we
were selling LOLL we didn't really say what we knew or didn't LOL .
Heck I just learned I am descendant from a pottery company and so far
have not had any luck seeing any they company new makes sinks .
also distantly related to an old auto manufacturer. Until recently I
knew very little about My fathers family met them some anyway when
I was just 14 and my Grand Pop died didn't even know my paternal
paternal side LOL. If anyone ever comes across Durant Pottery and so
far I haven't been able to see any I would love to see a pic.
MY fathers side were all tradesman artisans even shoemakers all
from Italy and are scattered all over the usa.
I accidentally met a cousin when two sets of in laws opened a
consignment shop in my town it was so great to hear my poppop's
brother is 93 and still kicking and ushering in a church in the
manyunk PA.
And My other great uncles grandson still has a shoe maker and repair
shop there that his granfather and his father al owned for a lot of
years.
When I get another car I will finally get to meet my relatives I
don't know personally but Know of now . I am still trying to find info
on one or two brothers my father has/had who were by my Pops second
marriage after they split they took her name sounds like I may
get a bit too much info <grin> but I still want to know them
before all of the older ones are gone.
I know from some info My cousin gave me that most of them love and
have lots of pottery and porcelain .. pottery and who knows could have
worked in companies after coming here from italy. one of my great
finds was in that new consignment shop a wonderful umbrella holder
that another relative consigned because they thought it ugly
with coats of houseplant in it I resorted it stripping really
carefully off all that pint to find a very pretty and I think
unfinished piece ( it looks like the artist mad a boo bo and maybe
took it home with him or her as a rejected item so it was never
painted or refired after the glazing. and it wound up in
Philadelphia it looks t like Roseville but I can't be sure it has no
markings . I have it displayed right by my front door (but nobody
is allowed to put umbrellas in it LOL it has a drain hole in the
bottom and I have solid oak floors we just had done 2 years ago.. I
have pics if anyone wants to se it . MY cousin used it for 31 years
after finding it in her attic upside down as a plant stand. so I got
a great pottery piece and found family to boot .
I usually find the bes stuff when I am not looking for it I was
actually just bring in stuffto cinsign and hang out helping for an
hour or two getting items marked /tagged and I saw it sitting on a
table with that gosh awful creamy yelow with some painted blue trim
took a week to get it all of but it was worth it. indoor outdoor
paint on it several coats
