We recently acquired the McCoy cookie jar of Uncle Sam's Hat and apparently the piece is rare.
It is very difficult to find current information on this particular piece and we are not McCoy collectors.
We will be auctioning it on eBay next week, but have no real gauge of what it is worth. (We've seen prices from $400-$1,000.)
We plan to start the bidding at around $450 with no reserve. We are not greedy. We will take whatever it ends up selling for.
It is in perfect condition except the inside of the lid has a minor chip where the rim sits on top of the jar. It is on the inside and never seen. Given how heavy the lid is and how precariously it sits on the hat, I wouldn't be surprised if they are all like that!
Since this email goes out to true McCoy collectors, I wanted to let all of you know that the piece will be going up for auction on eBay next week and the auction will last for ten days.
Thanks for your time,
Melissa
