[Mccoypottery-talk] General Question for Everyone

Thanks Dave,
I hadn't had time to look up the year on the Chairman of the Board. Too busy with Easter, plus this webtv was acting up yesterday. I know that ours was marked with just USA and the number and had the same "look" as the other newer McCoy pieces that didn't say McCoy. If it has been so heavily reproduced, it has never seemed to show up around here that I am aware of. However, we don't do much looking these days.

Hi Douglas!
The kitten in the basket was made in 1956. I wouldnt say its a "rare" jar, but it is a nice jar to be sure.
As for the "chairman of the board" jar, be advised he has been heavily reproduced. The real jar sould be 10-1/4 inches tall. He was made in 1985, and should be marked "162 USA".
Hope this helps,
Dave

Hey Barb. I'm new at this and really enjoy reading
these notes from everyone. I have the Cat in the
Basket from 1956 that my mother left to me. She got it
on a wedding anniversary. I have never seen it before
at anyones home. I don't know if the McCoy folks have
a "show" from time to time and was wondering if you
considered it rare. I saw it once on a TV show of
antiques and they said it was rare but I'm not up
enought on my McCoy pottery to know. I collected for
about two years and its all in storage in boxes since
I have been sick. I must have about 7 cookie jars. Let
me know what you think. Thanks, Douglas Brown,
