hi everyone. i recently took the risk of purchasing a pair of what I thought to be mccoy owl cookie jars off e-bay, and i wonder if i managed to buy fakes. the seller, who had a very strong customer rating, said: " They are 100% guaranted to be McCoys." the dark brown one (link to ebay entry below) has mccoy name and logo and a number (which i can't recall at the moment) on the bottom. the tan one has same number and USA (but not the mccoy name or logo) stamped on bottom. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180086066360 the reason i'm now dubious is that one one side of the dark brown one and on both sides of the tan one, the "feathers" are not as distinct/detailed as on the fronts and the backs -- they're flatter, less raised from the surface. i'm wondering if mccoy let work out of the factory (even in the final days) where the quality was this inconsistent. or if these are the dreaded overseas knockoffs that i've read about. any info or expert opinions appreciated. howard pousner, atlanta
