You know Barb, I don't have an answer for you. but I think I've seen it 
stamped in gold, too....I doubt there was a significant purpose in it...different 
production run or so..It it's stamped I'd think it's right...never heard of a 
repro stamped like that.  measurements?  I'll be glad to compare to mine if 
you'd like.
